A product of the junior and community development system in Wales, Steve played for his hometown club Valley Cougars and Celtic Crusaders' second team, before being picked up by South Wales Scorpions when they were formed for the 2010 season. Immediately he was the League's Player of the Month in his first month as a professional due to his try scoring. He joined Gloucestershire All Golds in 2013 but left Scorpions as their record try scorer with 43 - a post he still holds. After becoming All Golds' top scorer with 63 tries, he returned to Wales with West Wales Raiders and as of 2021 was their record try scorer in pro game too. He's also been a prominent coach in Wales, taking charge of junior and student sides.
