Michael Channing played for Wales in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup in Australia. Qualifying for Wales through both grandfathers, Michael started out in rugby union. He was in the academy at Premiership clubs Harlequins and London Irish before switching codes to rugby league at the age of 18 with London Broncos in 2012. He made his Wales debut that year. He left London in 2013, joining Castleford Tigers, where he also spent time on loan with York City Knights. After spending the 2016 season with Featherstone Rovers, he went back to where it all started and joined London Broncos for the final two years of his playing career. Sadly, in 2018, he was forced to retire at the age of 26 due to a neck injury. During his career, he made 47 Super League appearances, scoring 10 tries.
