Born in 1885, Dai Rees was the first ever Welsh international hooker, starring in the 9-8 win over New Zealand on New Year's Day 1908. Born in Dinas Cross, Fishguard, Wales, he turned professional with Salford in 1904. He moved back to Wales after his stint with the club and his great-grandson Ryan Nicholls played football for Leeds United and Cardiff City. His great-great grandson Callum Nicholls made his Glamorgan cricket debut in 2023.
