Mark John McJennett, also known by the nickname of "Macker" played rugby union for Cardiff and Newport, the latter as captain, and son of the Newport coach Ian McJennett. He also represented Crawshays. Turning professional with Barrow in 1979, he spent eight years in Cumbria, helping them to a Lancashire Cup Final win in 1983. The whole of that side were inducted into the Barrow Hall of Fame in 2003. He was later director of a number of companies, the last being "The Naval Sports Charity" that supports the sporting activities of serving Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel. He resigned from that post in 2022.
