Malcolm Davies began his rugby career with his hometown team, Maesteg RFC before his exploits were noticed by Cardiff RFC. He only made eight appearances for them, also turning out for Penarth and CIACs, before going back to Maesteg. He turned professional with Leigh in 1953, scoring 79 tries in 84 appearances, and won a Wales cap against France that same year. In 1956, he moved to Bradford Northern and scored better than a try a game with 22 in 19 games. He then signed for Leeds for £3,000 in January 1957 but couldn't break into the side, playing just five times and scoring three tries. He rejoined Bradford Northern for £1,000, a £2,000 loss for Leeds. His form soon returned and he ended the 1957–58 season at Odsal with 45 tries in 35 games. He was Bardford’s top try scorer and finished fourth on the try-scoring list nationally. He followed this up with 28 tries in 1958–59 before finishing his career with Bramley. He moved back to Wales soon after finishing his rugby league career, establishing a glass and china wholesalers on High Street, Barry. Following his retirement, he became involved with Sully Community Council and spent five years as its chairman. He died in Sully on 27 February 2011.
