William Harold Johnson started out in club level rugby union with Pill Harriers and then Newport RFC. Turning professional with Huddersfield in 1935, he scored 126 tries in 196 appearances for the club until he retired in 1941. He won one winners medal during his time there, playing in their 18-10 win over Hull FC in the 1938 Yorkshire Cup Final. He died on 13 June 1997 aged 82.
