Stephen Thomas played just 13 games of first team rugby league and five of them were for Wales. An academy player with Warrington Wolves, Steven played for Great Britain Academy and also turned out for Wales RU U19s. After failing to get a regular place in the Wolves side, he played rugby union for Gloucester and then returned to league with London Broncos. He then made his name in Wales, making over 100 appearances for Neath RU winning five Premiership titles and two Welsh Cups. In the process, he held the record for tries in a season. He scored for Neath against Romania in a Rugby World Cup warm-up match. He also made three appearances for the Scarlets regional side at the end of the 2004–05 season. He made his last appearance for Neath in 2013.
