Movement has been on foot for some time to popularise Northern Union game in the West of England, and the decision of the match between England and Wales at Plymouth Saturday should much to achieve the object in view. The English bide proved to be much too clever for their opponents, and won 40 points to 16.
Scoring began the first three minutes, when Wagstaffe sent Moorhouse in. Nine minutes later Woods, backing up Clampitt, Ramsdale, and Clark, •cored, while after 19 minutes Clampitt forced himself over, and Carmichael, previously unsuccessful, placed goal, and try came from the left wing, working the reverse and Montrose going from a pass Wagstaffe.
A misunderstanding between Cleave and Carmichael let in Wales, and Ned Jones scored. Thomas failing at goal. Moorhouse and Clampitt, however, ran in with tries for England, Batten and Moorhouse missing the shots, while after Thomas had kicked a penalty goal for Wales, Ernest J one"? taking up a cross-kick of Moorhouse's, scored for England, Carmichael placing a goal. Half-time England led by 25 points to 5.

Still Wales kept it, and Chilcott, from wide pass by Coldrick, got another try, which was not improved Thomas. Then England woke up, and Jenkins, after being once baulked, ran in, the goal kick being wide.
