Paul Craig, who qualified for Wales via the heritage rule via his Bangor born grandfather, became the first and so far only captain to lead a Wales international side to a test win against Australia, when he captained the Wales Wheelchair side to not one, but two wins against the Wheelaroos in the 2013 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup. Paul's only games for Wales were in that World Cup, when we finished third.
Paul started running rugby league from a young age with Halton Hornets and Lunts Heath School before playing open age with Chorley Panthers. A dislocated shoulder forced him to take few years out before playing for local side Huyton Bulldogs.
However Paul already had perthes disease,a childhood hip disorder initiated by a disruption of blood flow to the head of the femur. This led for him to have number of operations and metal plates fitted in his hip which caused his bad leg to grow four centimetres longer than his good side. After year of walking with a limp and managing to play rugby league, they found a bone cysts on the hip joint which led to two failed operation so he had to have the hip replaced. With the hip problems it caused him to have spine problems.
In 2010 Liz Hindley and Maurice Craig invited him to Mersey Vikings Wheelchair Rugby League and within a couple months, he was given the captaincy before being selected for England, playing twice. He switched to Wales when Maurice was offered the job as Wales head coach in 2013 so he joined his father to pull the team together. Following that, he continued at club level with St Helens and now Mersey Storm.
