Mike Porter qualified to play for Wales through his dad, who was born in Aberystwyth. He played in Wales' first ever matches in the 2012 Four Nations and was in the 2013 World Cup squad but didn't take to the court. Following this, he concentrated on Wheelchair Basketball. Mike lost the use of his legs to a mystery ailment when he was 16, where the messages from his brain no longer got through to his legs, which left him in a Wheelchair.
