In 2019, he reached 32 appearances, missing just four games out of the first 36 in Wales Wheelchair history, and overtaking the number of Welsh caps of any other test player in Wales RL. A player and expert on almost all Wheelchair team sports, as of 2020 he was running AC Coaching to develop disability sports players of all levels. His other sporting achievements include being elected assistant coach and team manager of both Great Britain U23s and Ireland Wheelchair Basketball international sides. He has also had experience working as a player and behind the scenes London Wheelchair Rugby Club who were linked with the original incarnation of London Broncos.

Alan was first introduced to Wheelchair Rugby League during the sports very infancy when France visited the UK in 2005 to take part in a training camp and taster session in Stoke Mandeville and following the 2008 World Cup, Alan was approached to help develop the game where he then went on to found Wolverhampton Rhinos and was then approached by North Wales Crusaders to become their first ever player and head coach, Alan went on with the Crusaders as a player coach until 2018 where he departed the club to join Hereford Harriers where in his first season played a pivotal part in their domestic treble winning success.

Born in Wolverhampton, Alan qualifies through his grandparents as they were born in Wales. During his career Alan has suffered a number of injuries which have left him unable to play the standard version of rugby league. Prior to his injuries, Alan played Rugby League for community club Wolverhampton Wizards.
