Edward Thomas was either known as "Ned", "Eddie", "Jumper" or "Tommy Gwag", was captain of Tumble RFC before playing for Llanelli. He turned professional with Oldham in 1919. He spent four years there, playing 107 time and scoring 47 tries. He signed for Wakefield Trinity in 1924, staying there four years, playing 82 times and scoring 36 tries. He played on the wing in Wakefield Trinity's 9-8 victory over Batley in the 1924 Yorkshire Cup Final.
