Gavin Price-Jones won two caps for Wales, both against USA in 1995, but he could have won more. Hemel Hempstead born with a Welsh father, he moved to Australia as a youngster coming through the Temora Dragons youth system before playing for Canberra Raiders Reserves. On moving to the UK in 1994, he was selected to play for Wales against Australia, but on the day he was selected, broke his arm after playing his 10th game for Swinton. Early in 1996, he played for Wales in the Fiji Nines and was then was selected to play against France in the European Championship but misfortune struck again as the Swinton bus broke down after playing the South Wales team. He missed training the following morning and Clive Griffiths had no choice but to name Jason Crichley in his place in the centres. He was selected in the Welsh World Cup Squad in 2000 while on Rochdale Hornets’ books but returned to Australia prior to tournament for work and family commitments. He eventually became an art teacher at The Rock Central School, New South Wales, Australia.
