Gwyn Parker started off in rugby union with Neath, turning professional with Huddersfield in 1927, following his brother Tommy north. Whilst both were capped by Wales, they didn't ever appear in the same side. He helped Huddersfield team to league success in 1928–29 and 1929-30, beating Leeds in the Championship Final each time, scoring a try in the second of the games. He also helped Huddersfield to a Yorkshire Cup win in 1931. He made over 200 appearances at Fartown before moving to Leeds for £400 in 1934. There he helped Leeds to Yorkshire Cup Final victories in 1934 and 1935 plus they were Yorkshire League winners in 1933–34, 1934–35 and 1936–37. But the highlight was when he helped Leeds to the Challenge Cup in 1936, where he scored a try in win over Warrington in the final. In February 1937, he was transferred to Keighley and became a part of history as he was one of eight Welsh players in the side as they played in their only Challenge Cup final, which they lost to Widnes. He later also played for York and Rochdale and in between he went to France to hope to play for Albi, where Tommy was manager but York stopped the move. He moved back to the Huddersfield area, which was where he died on January 14, 1995, aged 87.
