Dai Maidment played rugby union for his local side Ebbw Vale before turning professional with Wakefield in 1926. He made 88 appearances for the club in five years, scoring 20 tries which included a memorable hat-trick against Warrington in 1927. He made four county appearances for Glamorgan and Monmouthshire He died on the January 11, 1980, aged 76.
