Graeme Johns originates from Barrow, which is where he played junior rugby league. He played for Wales through the heritage rule. He made his first class debut for Swinton, signing for them when he was a student at Manchester University. He went onto make nine appearances for Salford, before going back to Cumbria, signing for Whitehaven. He ended his playing career at Blackpool Borough.
