Bryn Powell played for Wales via the heritage rule. His grandfather, son of the Welsh international Charlie Sage, was born in Wales before the family went north. Bryn started his professional career at Hunslet Hawks playing two seasons in 2002 and 2003. A move to Super League club Salford City Reds followed, but he was only selected twice, so played most of the 2004 season at Batley Bulldogs. A season with Featherstone Rovers followed before his most successful period - five years at Dewsbury Rams where he scored 63 tries in 117 appearances. His final season in the professional game was back with Featherstone Rovers in 2011. In total for all clubs he made 248 first class appearances, scoring 154 tries.
