Bill Morgan hailed from Ebbw Vale but became famous at Newport RFC, making 129 appearances for them in four years between 1926 and 1930. He turned professional with Wigan at the end of the year. He made his debut for Wigan on Christmas Day 1930. He made 100 appearances for Wigan in three years before transferring to Bradford Northern and remaining there until 1939 before moving back to Wales. His son Ron Morgan also eventually played for Wales.
