Melvyn A Meek played in a golden era of Welsh Rugby League, helping us to win the 1935 and 1936-37 European Championships. He initially played rugby union for Abertillery and Newport in the 1930s before turning professional with Halifax in 1934. There he played 390 games, scoring 65 tries, turning out in two Challenge Cups finals, both of which were defeats. He later joined Huddersfield where he spent a number of years as trainer.
