Danielle McGifford first played rugby league in 2023 season, signing with St Helens. As well as playing for Saints, she made appearances on loan with Huddersfield Giants in 2024. A former heptathlete, she was a schools champion and competed for over ten years in a number of athletics events before switching to rugby league. Qualifying for Wales via the heritage rule, she was first selected for the Wales squad ahead of the England match in 2024.
