Jade Mullen was first selected in the Wales squad in 2026, ahead of the Canada match, after joining rugby league with London Broncos earlier in the year. Before that, she was a long-time rugby union player, especially with the British Army, where she spent ten years with the side, actually playing against Wales in 2016, and eventually captained the Army side to two inter-service championships, where one of her team-mates was her new Wales RL women's captain Bethan Dainton. She has also turned out for Harlequins, Cardiff Blues, and the Wales Development side in rugby union.
