Leslie Llewellyn White played for Wales seven times, Great Britain eight times, including on the Lions tour to Australia and New Zealand in 1932 and also turned out for Other Nationalities. He starting playing rugby league aged 21 with the Pontypridd RL side that ran from 1926-27. After that club was wound up due to costs, he was signed by Hunslet to partner Dai Morgan Jenkins. He stayed at Parkside until the end of the 1945-6 season, nearly 20 years, including during the War when he also played for a "Northern Command XIII". At Hunslet, he finished with 495 appearances, kicking one goal and touching down 44 times. He was able to help Don Rees when he signed for Hunslet, teaching him the tricks of the trade. Les was the landlord of the St. Helens Inn public house, Whitehouse Street, Hunslet, Leeds during the 1930s and the Moorhouse Inn public house, Moor Crescent, Hunslet, Leeds during the 1940s. He died in Leeds on December 13, 1973 aged 68.
