Ronald Morgan, who won four Great Britain caps to accompany his lone Welsh cap, is the son of Welsh RL international, Bill Morgan. Ron was born in Bradford, which is where Bill was playing at the time, but when Ron was just a year old, Bill retired from playing and the family moved back to Bill's native Ebbw Vale. When he was 18, Ron joined the SAS for three years and was stationed all over the world. After coming back to Wales, he began playing rugby union for Ebbw Vale, He later becoming their captain and trialing for Wales although he didn't win a cap. So he turned professional for Swinton in 1961, playing 90 times for the club and scoring 18 tries, three of them on his debut. He stayed at the club for the three years, winning the League Championship in 1962–63 and 1963–64. At the end of the latter season, he signed for Leeds for £4,500, making 42 appearances for the club over two seasons and scoring three tries. He moved to Hull FC for a season in 1966 and later retired. In 2024, he was living in Huddersfield in retirement.
