Owen Phillips was Swansea born and played for his hometown rugby union club after the war before turning professional with Swinton in 1948. In addition to his Wales caps, he represented a Combined Nationalities side in a 15-19 defeat by France at Stade de Gerland, Lyon on Sunday 3 January 1954. He died in November 1998.
