Steve Diamond qualified for Wales on residency. After a short spell at Newport RFC, he turned professional with Wakefield in 1978 and was successful with the boot, kicking 232 goals and two drop goals, as well as scoring 20 tries, in his 122 appearances. In 1981, he was offered a chance to become a founder player at Fulham RLFC, the side who would eventually become London Broncos. In his three seasons there, he racked up 691 points in 109 appearances - a club record. He kicked a record 305 goals, as well as scoring four drop goals and 24 tries. Brief spells at Warrington, Hunslet, Castleford and York followed for him over the next three seasons before he retired.
