Jess first joined the Welsh squad for the 2024 Celtic Cup after an outstanding 2023 season with North Wales Crusaders, playing primarily in the club's second team in Championship North where they scored 10 tries in just four games to become that league's top scorer that year. This form warranted a call-up to the first team, making their debut in the play-off semi-final victory over Bradford Bulls, making them a part of both title campaigns for the Crusaders that year. Because of this, they picked up the club's "Most Improved Player" award. Jess joined the Crusaders ahead of the 2022 season after attending a taster session in 2021. Known for their versatility on court, Booth is more than capable to play all five positions of Wheelchair Rugby League but is most commonly utilised as an inside/ middle.

Jess came from Wheelchair Basketball, playing with Cheshire Phoenix in 2021 until they switched to Wheelchair Rugby League full-time a year later. Jess is in a Wheelchair due to chronic pain in their right knee. Jess says that playing Wheelchair Rugby League is a big help in improving their mental health.
