Tom Hopkins qualified for Wales through heritage making his debut aged 29. A latecomer to the professional game, he played in the community game with Askam as a child, turning out for them until the age of 27, when he was given a chance to turn professional with Barrow Raiders. Whilst with Askam, he represented BARLA on tour in 2018. In 2021, he helped Barrow to promotion to the Championship and then to the Championship play-offs a year later.
