Leanne Burnell started in rugby union playing for Pencoed Phoenix, leading them to a WRU Bowl Final in 2014, where she scored a try. Player of the match in the first ever open age women's rugby league match in Wales when playing for Cardiff Blue Dragons, she went on to represent West Wales and then played for Wales in the first two women's internationals in 2019. Works in the accountancy trade outside of rugby.
