Joeann Maguire has played in local rugby union in valleys for a number of years, turning out for Bedlinog and Cilfynydd before joining Nelson Belles. She was a founder member of the Rhondda Outlaws women's side in 2019 and didn't miss a game that year. She went onto represent East Wales, where she scored their first ever try, and then Wales in both matches that year, starting on the bench in their historic first win over England Lions.
