Billy Jay Walkley started his rugby league at Aber Valley Wolves in the U16 side, helping them to the Welsh final in 2021 whilst also becoming a Wales U17 international, in the only year that side ran due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. In 2022, after studying with and playing for the WRL National Development Academy in Ystrad Mynach, he was signed by Salford Red Devils. Later in 2022, after playing in the Aber Valley Wolves senior side, he turned out for Wales U19 in the U19 European Championships. In 2023, he played for Wales men in a friendly match against Cumbria. Signing for Keighley Cougars in 2024, he scored 20 tries for them in his debut season, leading them to the promotion play-off final. He was brought into the Wales senior men's squad for the World Cup qualifiers in 2024.
