James Olds started playing rugby league for Brynteg School in the Champion Schools competition before playing junior RL at Bridgend Blue Bulls. After that he took a break from RL for nearly a decade, only going back when he joined his younger brother Olly in Australia. His performances in Queensland then gave him the opportunity to win full Welsh caps.
