Caleb Aekins is New Zealand born and of Māori and Welsh descent. He played both rugby union and rugby league as a junior for the Otaika Eagles and Hikurangi Stags in rugby league and captained Whangarei Boys High School, in 2015 he moved over to Australia. He made his NRL debut in 2018 NRL for Penrith Panthers, staying for three seasons before joining Canberra Raiders for a year. Following 21 NRL appearances, he joined RFL Championship side Leigh Centurions for the 2022 season, leading them to promotion to Super League.
