Billy Davies started in rugby union with Llanelli before turning professional with Castleford in 1931. There, he made 204 appearances, scoring 25 tries and kicking five goals. Whilst at the club, he won a Yorkshire League medal plus a Challenge Cup win in 1935 after they beat Huddersfield 11-8 at Wembley Stadium. He transferred to Featherstone Rovers in 1937 and made 23 appearances for them, scoring once. He played once for Great Britain, in 1933 against Australia.
