Mickey Edwards played for Wales on the 1996 tour of USA. Qualifying for Wales under the heritage rule, he came through junior ranks at Oldham, with stints in the reserves at Leigh and St Helens as well as first team appearances for Oldham and Swinton. Since retiring from playing, he has primarily run fitness studios and websites. In 2021, he was diagnosed with early-onset dementia and probable CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) and was one of a group of players, which also included fellow former Wales international Lenny Woodard, to launch legal action against sporting governing bodies, claiming that they weren't protected from the risks of concussion.
