Sam Hopkins played for Wales in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup after qualifying through the heritage ruling. Coming through the junior ranks at Leigh East, he represented his home town professional club Leigh Centurions for seven seasons, scoring 55 tries in 160 appearances, which included six tries in 20 Super League matches. In the 2014 season, he was actually registered as a Wigan player but spent most of that time on dual registration with Leigh. He then spent 2018 at Toronto Wolfpack, helping them to promotion from League 1, then a year with Workington Town before joining Rochdale Hornets.
