Mark Sheals played professional Rugby League as a prop forward for Swinton, Leigh, Oldham and Wakefield Trinity. He made over 100 appearances in his professional career, retiring just before the summer era. It was then that he turned to professional acting, making his break while selling sportswear and being asked to provide tracksuits for "Rise of the Foot Soldier". He was invited to the set and found himself asked to appear in a fight scene between West Ham and Millwall fans. Consequently he enrolled on the two year course at the Manchester School of Drama and has since appeared in several television dramas including Coronation Street, Shameless, Doctors and Everybody's Talking About Jamie. He works in pest control when he's not acting.
