Bill Saunders was involved in professional rugby in Wales right from the start. After playing the amateur game for Ebbw Vale, he switched, along with the club, to professional rugby and was a regular in their side throughout the five years they played in the Northern Union. Despite his strong performances, he won just the one Welsh cap.
