Grandson of the great Welsh association footballer Gil Reece, Lewis came through the Wales Rugby League junior development system before kicking a goal, converting Gareth Thomas's try, against Italy in 2009, which was both players' full WRL debuts. He was a member of Wales' European Cup winning side in 2015. Club wise, he turned out for South Wales Scorpions, Gloucestershire All Golds and Whitehaven in a variety of position, making 101 first class domestic appearances in the RFL set-up. He also spent a year in Australia in 2014 playing in the Queensland competitions. In between his rugby league exploits, he would often play local club rugby union in Wales, turning out for whoever needed his services. He hung up his boots at the relatively young age of 27 and moved into television, working behind the scenes in the props departments of shows like Poldark, Keeping Faith and Doctor Who.
