Christopher Preece played for Wales because of his Welsh grandmother. A Colts (reserves) player at Salford, he didn't ever make the first team at The Willows. Instead he was snapped up by Bradford Northern in 1983, following trials at Oldham and Leigh, but made just 16 appearances in three years there, scoring four tries, eight of those were in his first season as but breaking his leg put him out for over a year. He moved to Halifax in 1986, but made just six appearances there, scoring twice as he didn't get along with coach Chris Anderson. He had a loan spell at Warrington in 1988 but only played in the reserves. A gardener by trade, he eventually moved to the south of France and played for Palau XIII.
