Dai Moses is described as one of the most loyal players to have ever pulled on a Salford shirt. Born in Nantymoel, Dai joined Salford from Maesteg Rugby Union Football Club shortly after World War II. He went on to make 328 appearances in a 13-year spell at The Willows, scoring 29 tries and kicking four goals. However he couldn't lead his side to a trophy. He was on the verge of Great Britain honours but he injured both ankles whilst training and was never considered again. His brother Glyn also joined Salford in 1948, staying at The Willows for three seasons before being transferred to St Helens. Dai was nearing the end of his Salford career when club legend Gus Risman took over the coaching role. It was Risman who told Moses that he no longer figured in his plans so Dai moved to Swinton, reaching the only Cup Final of his career in 1961 when Swinton faced St Helens in the Lancashire Cup Final, losing 15-9. Dai finally hung up his boots during the 1961 season, taking up the coaching berth at Station Road, after several years Dai returned to his first love Salford in 1969 to join the Junior Colts coaching team. In his latter years, he became head groundsman at The Willows. Dai sadly passed away on July 11, 1999. He was voted into Salford’s team of the century in 2001.
