Mark Moran played for Wales via the heritage rule. Hailing from Warrington, he went through their junior programme, but didn't ever make a senior appearance. He first joined Salford, playing many games at the top level, before being transferred to Leigh in 1992. He later went back into the community game with Woolston Rovers. Post-playing, he turned to coaching and lecturing, initially working as a Sport Science Programme Manager and was then a lecturer in Sport at Manchester College for four years. His first coaching job was at Warrington Wolves, working in their youth set-up for six seasons. Three years at Widnes Vikings followed as their U19s head coach before becoming a coach developer and educator at the Rugby Football League. Post-covid he worked as a Programme Leader and Senior Lecturer in Sports Science and Coaching as well as coaching at Salford Red Devils on a part-time basis.
