John "Jack" T. Jenkins played club level rugby union for Llwynypia RFC before turning professional with Warrington in 1906. He made 99 appearances for the club over four years, scoring 31 tries. One of the highlights of his time there, was when he played scrum-half in Warrington's 10-3 victory over Australia in the 1908–09 Kangaroo tour match. Australia challenged Warrington to a rematch later in the season and Jack scored a try in the 8-8 draW. His son Griff Jenkins, was also a rugby league player. He turned out for Warrington in the 1930s, and was appointed as Oldham's first ever coach in 1954.
