George Hitchings played once for Wales during his time at Ebbw Vale. He was a founder member of the club, playing in Ebbw's first ever game at Keighley, and he was there until the end, being an ever-present in the 1911-12 season. He fought in the Great War with the South Wales Borders Regiment and sadly died in battle in August 1917.
