Oswald Griffiths initially played rugby union for Cwmavon before turning professional with Wigan in 1932, helping them to the Championship two years later after they beat Salford 15-3 in the Final. After 57 appearances and three tries, he joined St Helens, initially for a year and a half before playing three years with Halifax. He rejoined St Helens in 1938. He played in 79 matches for the Saints overall in his two spells, scoring six tries. Outside of rugby league, Ossie was labourer. By 1939, he had returned to South Wales and was living in Port Talbot. He died in Neath in December 1989, aged 80.
