Ralph Green started playing rugby with his local side, Machen RFC before joining Newport in 1929, stayed there for two seasons making 44 appearances and scoring one try. He turned professional with Dewsbury in 1931, staying with them for a season and a half before joining Leeds in January 1933. He kicked 26 goals in the 1933–34 season, the second highest at the club, helping Leeds to win the Yorkshire League. In summer of that year, he was transferred to Bradford Northern, where he played 49 games over three seasons. When he retired from the sport, he continued to live in the area, passing away in 1963.
