Eifion "Jack" A Davies was Penclawdd born but played his rugby union in London, turning out for London Welsh, Richmond, Harlequins and Middlesex. He also made Wales XV appearances against England in 1945 and 1946, unofficial games which were never classed as a full internationals. He turned professional with Salford in 1947 and became one of their stars, scoring 49 tries and kicking 469 goals in his 241 appearances for the club.
