Joe Burke came through the Celtic Crusaders and Wales RL academy system and was a member of the Wales U19 side who won the European Championship in 2008. Graduating to the men's senior side, he helped Wales to win the European Championship in 2015 before playing in the 2017 World Cup. Originally at Newport Titans, Joe helped Celtic Crusaders U18 to win the National Youth League in 2009. He played once in Super League for their first team but was a regular with South Wales Scorpions where he was eventually appointed captain. Moving north to Barrow in 2014, he spent a year and a half at North Wales Crusaders from 2015 before signing for Oldham. He took a couple of seasons out of the game for personal reasons, moving back to Wales, and made a comeback with West Wales Raiders in 2021.
