Jesse Oswald Meredith played rugby union for Abertillery before turning professional with Warrington in 1927. He played 113 times for the club, scoring nine tries, one goal and a drop-goal. He helped Warrington to a Lancashire Cup Final win in 1929, scoring a try as they beat Salford 15-2. Known as a bit of a joker, he preferred to be known by his nickname "Kikey" and pretended to his team-mates that he could speak fluent Welsh, only to be found out when Dai Davies, whose first language was Welsh, joined Warrington. Jesse died in Liverpool in 1974, aged 68.
