Leslie Morgan Thomas came to Oldham from Llanelli in August 1946. He had represented Wales at rugby union in the Victory Internationals that followed the Second World War, games that weren't full capped. He spent three years with Oldham playing 58 times, scoring 19 tries and kicking 17 goals. He won all of his Welsh caps and one Great Britain cap whilst with Oldham. He transferred to Leeds in 1948 exchange for three players, in a move which was believed to total over £2,000. However, he didn't ever fully settled in Leeds and was placed on the transfer in January 1949. He ended up with 21 appearances for Leeds, scoring four tries, all of which were in the first couple of months of being there. He moved back to Wales by the summer of 1949 and began playing rugby league for Neath, captaining the side by the 1950-51 season. However he, in the pre-Bosman era, was still officially a Leeds player and Neath were allegedly reprimanded for playing him without permission. By 1951, he was released by Leeds and he played for the Cardiff RLFC, who spent one season in the RFL leagues.
