Qualifying for Wales through parentage, Oliver Burgham started playing rugby for his home town before moving to Wales and turning out for Abertillery. When Ebbw Vale RFC turned professional as a club, Oliver joined them and turned out in Wales' first two matches ever. When Ebbw Vale went back to being an amateur club, Oliver moved north and signed for Halifax, staying there until the outbreak of World War I. He stayed in the north of England and died on May 6th 1967 in Penwortham, Lancashire aged 81.
